Why Reno: Playing in September

Why Reno: Playing in September

Client Connection

Back to school doesn’t mean the summer fun ends in Reno. Weekends in September in the Reno area has something for everyone. Another reason why the area is so attractive to visitors and residents alike.

For locals, post-Labor Day provides less crowded outdoor activities, such as visiting one of the many local lakes or enjoying one of the many trails for mountain biking or hiking. The area offers thousands of miles worth of trails for every skill level. There’s still time to extend that summer tan or perfect your paddleboard or water skiing skills at not only Lake Tahoe, but many of the other area lakes and reservoirs. Donner Lake just east of Truckee, is much warmer than Lake Tahoe and conveniently located just off of I-80. Eagle Lake just north of Susanville is actually an alkaline lake famous for its fishing. Lake Almanor is a reservoir that is over 43 square miles of surface area, making it one of the largest in California. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Reno. These lakes provide for a great staycation or simple day trip.

September is also a very busy event month. As mentioned in a previous post, the Reno area has something going on almost every weekend, starting at the end of August with the Best In The West Rib Cook Off held yearly opposite the Nugget Casino in Sparks. This is followed by the Great Reno Balloon Race in early September. Billed as the world’s largest free balloon event, it’s a great way to start the day, perfect for early risers! The following weekend takes to the air with the fastest motorsport on earth, the Reno Air Races. From static aircraft displays, stunt pilots, multiple classes of races as well as the awe inspiring Thunderbirds, this yearly event is one of the most popular for aircraft enthusiasts from around the world. For those who love the sound of a throaty motorcycle, the last weekend in September is for you. The annual Street Vibrations rolls its way into Northern Nevada. Bring your own motorcycle or peruse the multitude of metal lined up in Reno, Carson City, South Lake Tahoe and Virginia City.

The Reno/Tahoe area is one of the top playgrounds in the country. Enjoy!

Auto Loan Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) Coverage

It’s no secret that as soon as you drive a new car off the lot, it instantly begins depreciating in value. An auto depreciates the most in the first few years after it leaves the lot. For most consumers, this is not a major concern because they do not plan to sell their vehicle in the near future; but what if the vehicle was in an accident shortly after it was purchased and the insurance company deemed it a total loss? GAP insurance (guaranteed asset protection insurance) may help in these situations.
