Caller ID “Spoofing” of Social Security Fraud Hotline Phone Number

The Inspector General of Social Security released a statement warning citizens about a caller ID spoofing scheme. Fraudsters are using the Social Security Fraud Hotline number to call citizens. Social Security employees do not place outgoing calls from the Fraud Hotline number. It is advised that you do not engage with these calls or provide personal information.
